IELTS Turtle Privacy Policy

01Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how IELTS Turtle ("we", "our", or "the app") handles information when you use our IELTS learning application. We are committed to protecting your privacy, and to describing honestly what the app does rather than claiming to do less.

02Information Collection

IELTS Turtle is designed with your privacy in mind. The app has no user accounts, no advertising and no analytics, and we do not collect, store or have access to any personal information about you.

03What We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, store, process, or have access to:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, address)
• User account information — the app has no account system
• Advertising identifiers or tracking IDs
• Location data (the app never requests location permission)
• Photos, camera access, contacts or call information
• Payment or financial information
• Analytics, usage statistics or behavioural profiles
• Any other personal or sensitive information

04Permissions

IELTS Turtle asks only for what a specific feature needs, and every optional permission can be refused without losing the rest of the app:

• Microphone (optional) — records your spoken answers during a Speaking mock test so you can listen back afterwards. Recordings stay on your device and are never uploaded. If you refuse it, the interview simply runs without recording.
• Notifications (optional) — study reminders and word-review reminders that you schedule yourself.
• Internet and network state — to download audio and look up dictionary definitions.
• Foreground service and wake lock — allow audio playback to continue while the screen is off. Used only for playing audio.
• Scheduled alarms and restart notice — so reminders you set still arrive on time, including after your device restarts.

The app does not request location, camera, contacts, or access to your files.

05Data Storage

Everything the app knows about your studying is stored locally on your device, and only there:

• Your learning progress, favourites and review schedule
• Your settings and preferences
• Notes you write in the Notebook
• Your answers in mock tests
• Audio recordings you make during a Speaking mock test
• Downloaded pronunciation and listening audio, cached so it works offline

This data never leaves your device, is not transmitted to any server, is not accessible to us or to any third party, and is removed when you uninstall the app.

06Internet Connections the App Makes

The app is not fully offline. It connects to the following services, and only when you use the relevant feature:

• Our media servers (storage.boofismart.ir and storage-eu.boofismart.ir) — to download pronunciation, sentence and listening audio. Only the name of the requested audio file is sent.
• Our speech server — when audio for a sentence is not already available, the text of that sentence is sent so that a spoken version can be generated. Only the sentence text is sent, never anything about you.
• Cambridge Dictionary (dictionary.cambridge.org) and the Free Dictionary API (api.dictionaryapi.dev) — when you look up a word, that word is sent to whichever dictionary service you have selected.
• Google Fonts — to load the display font you choose in Settings.

As with any internet request, these servers can see your IP address and the time of the request, which is unavoidable for any app that downloads content. We do not use that information to identify or profile you.

07Microphone and Recordings

During a Speaking mock test, the app can record your answers so that you can listen back and assess yourself. These recordings are saved only on your device, are never uploaded or shared, and can be removed by deleting them in the app or by uninstalling it. Speech is not analysed, transcribed or sent anywhere.

08Reporting a Bug

If you choose to send a bug report, the app prepares a message containing your description together with your app version and device model, and then opens your own email or Telegram app so that you can send it. The full text is shown to you first, nothing is sent automatically, and you may cancel at any point. If you do contact us this way, we will see whatever your email or Telegram account reveals, such as your address or username, and we use it only to reply to you.

09Third-Party Services

IELTS Turtle uses a small number of third-party services, strictly to deliver features you ask for:

• Cambridge Dictionary and the Free Dictionary API — for word definitions
• Google Fonts — for the display fonts offered in Settings

The app does NOT integrate with:

• Any analytics or crash-reporting service
• Any advertising network
• Any social media platform
• Any payment processor
• Any cloud storage or account service
• Any tracking or data-collection tool

10Advertisements and Monetization

IELTS Turtle is completely free and ad-free. We do not:

• Display advertisements
• Require in-app purchases
• Collect data for advertising purposes
• Share information with advertising networks
• Sell or rent data to anyone

11Children's Privacy

IELTS Turtle is suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app has no accounts, no chat, no user-generated content shared with other users, and no advertising. Parents or guardians with questions are welcome to contact us at the address below.

12Data Security

Because your study data, notes and recordings never leave your device, they are protected by your device's own security. Audio and dictionary requests are sent over encrypted HTTPS connections, with one exception: our speech server currently uses an unencrypted connection while we migrate it to HTTPS. Only the text of the sentence being spoken is sent over that connection, and no personal information is involved.

13Your Rights and Choices

You remain in control at all times:

• Refuse or revoke the microphone permission in your device settings — the Speaking test still works without it
• Turn reminders off in Settings, or revoke the notification permission
• Delete all local data, including recordings and cached audio, by uninstalling the app

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete on request. If you have contacted us by email or Telegram and would like that correspondence deleted, simply ask.

14International Users

IELTS Turtle can be used by anyone worldwide. Audio is served from either a European or an Iranian server depending on your region, so a request may be handled in a country other than your own. No personal data is transferred in this process.

15Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or in legal requirements. We will notify you of any significant changes by:

• Updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy
• Posting the updated policy in the app and on our website

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
